The Oratory RAW Review Crew: 11/02/09

We're keeping the tradition alive this week, summing up all the warm fuzzies, cold pricklies, hugs and kisses we felt Monday night between 9 and 11PM, and squishing them all into one round number, ranging from one to ten. If we give a show a ten, it's the single greatest achievement man has ever reached. A ten is on par with the moon landing. On the other hand, if a show scrounges up a score of one... it's like the mark of the beast. Hell has come to earth, and we call it WWE RAW, if any episode ever deserves a one.
So, to recap... ten = unending peace and friendship, and one = all your worst nightmares come to life in one hundred and twenty minutes.
Krizbii… No I didn't write that intro, I copy/pasted it from the 07/29/02 show in the RRC archives, back in the days when drqshadow was in charge and the RRC was good.
Anyway, just me again this week, although a debut sure to be more impressive than Sheamus's is coming soon.
Ozzy, Sharon, Miz, Legacy, Show and DX
I thought Ozzy would be the one who was awful on the mic, but Sharon saying really all the time was stupid. It’s not exactly on excuse me levels of good catchphrases, just annoying. Ozzy being a puppet was an interesting way to get him to make matches, too bad he still couldn’t get the names right.
Miz vs Bourne
A better match than last week as they were given the chance to wrestle without the ringside nonsense. Still too short for what they deserve, but at least Evan got to job in a competitive match instead of a squash for a change.
Sheamus vs Noble
Last week SOS wasn’t particularly impressive when he wrestled Jamie. This week he just beat up Jamie, much more effective although it could still have been better. It’s a shame he had to almost smash Noble’s neck to get any crowd reaction, reckless moves like that suggest he shouldn’t have been called up to Raw yet..
Orton vs Kingston / Legacy vs Kofi/WSMVP
Randy must have been working on his fitness, he was already up on the ring post by the time it got to the flashy part of his music, he’s normally just starting to come down the ramp at that point. Since Ozzy knew that Rhodes and DiBiase would interfere, why not just make the tag match in the first place. Legacy were being built up well in their DX feud, now they’re jobbing to Henry. At least the match was good and kept Kofi/Randy ticking along nicely without giving away a proper match between them.
Raw’s Got Talent
This segment would like to disagree with the name of it. Chris Masters’ dancing pecs were one of the best things on Raw this year, too bad they came in the worst segment on Raw this year.
Brie vs Nikki vs Gail vs Kelly vs Alicia vs Eve
This match really showed how bad Raw’s women’s division is without Beth and Mickie. Gail went out first as she was the only wrestler in the match. Alicia won as she was the only heel in the match.
Backstage Stuff
Jericho talking to Ozzy without mentioning Fozzy was strange, Sharon was still annoying, really. Cena was cheesy as hell and the beating each other all the time line really needed Ron Simmons, the Bellas looking creeped out doesn’t have the same effect.
Jericho vs Cena vs Big Show
The DX commentary was annoying as hell, the smart comments are funny in small doses, solidly doing them for an entire match kills their effect and it took attention away from the ring. Jericho finally got a win over Cena, thanks to Big Show, but this did more to build for JeriShow’s match with Taker than the Raw main event.
Final Thoughts
A good tag match in the middle, Masters in the talent show and a couple of other decent matches were counteracted by the boring Sheamus beatdown, multiple cases of Osbourne crap, a poor divas match, bad backstage segments and bad main event commentary. The Nascar guys weren’t good talkers, but at least they stayed out of the way, this was a big drop down from the last few weeks.
